Why should you get your videotapes on DVD? The convenience of having them on a DVD lets you view them on your home entertainment system without using your camcorder, and you can instantly skip from one chapter to another, play at super slow or fast speeds, freeze a frame indefinitely, and other features (such as zoom and pan, etc. depending on your DVD playback equipment). You can also view them on the DVD drive of your computer if you have one, or share video files on the internet. Videotapes can break, and often wrinkle (creating picture "drop-outs") - and they will deteriorate with repeated usage. The transport mechanism of your video camera is not meant for repeated playing and shuttling of these tapes. DVDs provide a more resistant medium for repeated use that can easily be copied with no loss of the quality of the original DVD.

However, for the long-term preservation of your precious recorded memories (archival), we recommend making an original Master Copy on a Digital Video (DV) tape format (such as MiniDV) that you never play on your camcorder and that you store in a safe place, or (better) keeping a digital copy on a removable computer hard drive (ask about our Personal Media Drives) or on a fully backed-up computer server system "media vault" (ask about this service). Should your new DVDs later become unreadable in any way, or newer and better technology become available (such as up-conversion to high definition video DVDs), you will always be able to make a new copy from these digital Masters that will assure compatibility far into the future.

We use the highest quality, most scratch resistant DVDs available, yet discs are subject to potential damage and deterioration -- Please read more about this in our Terms and Conditions. To ensure that your videos and digital photo creations will be around for generations, you should consider taking the extra archival steps recommended above.

All video is processed on the same high quality components. The choices are for menus and packaging of your DVD.
